TV and Cinema Screens

Last updated 2 October 2026

CityRP does not bring back TV or cinema screens that play queued YouTube videos, including TVs that switch on when players are nearby. This one decision covers both requests.

Why

The maintainer's ruling in 2026: TVs were removed because of optimisation problems. The old video screens locked the server for about five seconds for every video queued.

Staff declined their return three times. In 2017 a staff vote failed partly over loud content that nearby players would have no way to turn off. In 2018 Doctor Internet said the screens would not return unless the server freezes were fixed, and a 2019 staff vote failed on the same server locks.

"It's not coming back unless the issues causing server freezes are resolved."
