Longer Jail Sentences

May be stale

This page was last updated ago, on 2 October 2026. Check what it says against the code before relying on it.

CityRP does not lengthen prison sentences, including when a correctional officer is on duty.

Why

Rejected by staff vote in 2019. Without a proper police system to guard against wrongful or excessive jailing, longer sentences would fall hardest on new players, who tend to be arrested often. Voters also expected officers to keep handing out the maximum time, so a higher maximum would be unfair. Keeping new players in the game rather than in a cell is part of Meet Players Where They Are.

Revisit when

The jail rework (#853, #420) lands.
