What it is

LimeSight makes ammunition and signal flares. Its name is printed on every box of rounds and on the flare pistol and its cartridges that ship in our own models, so it is the maker players see behind the city's guns, from shotgun shells to match-grade rifle rounds.

Its full name is LimeSight Ammunition Co., and its address is limesight.ammo. The name dates from when it made only ammunition; it kept it after branching out into signal flares. It is written plainly, without a mark (unlike LimeTrack™).

LimeSight is a manufacturer only. It does not sell to the public: what players buy reaches them through the city's gun stores. It has no premises in the city either, since its goods are made in the UK and imported (see Where it is made).

Its lines, as printed:

Line What carries it
Shotshells 12 gauge 00 buckshot ("Premium Defense Load") and beanbag ("Less Lethal")
Pistol ammunition 9×19mm, .45 ACP and 5.7×28mm FMJ, and 9×19mm rubber ball ("Less Lethal")
Magnum Series .44 Magnum, 240 gr jacketed hollow point
Rifle ammunition 5.56×45mm and 7.62×51mm NATO ball, in a military-style can
Precision Series .338 Lapua Magnum, 250 gr HPBT, "Match Grade"
Field Services A division whose only product so far is tranquilliser darts, "Veterinary Use Only"
Signals The 12 gauge signal flare launcher and its red aerial signal cartridges

Look

  • Wordmark: "LimeSight" in italic, "Lime" in lime green and "Sight" in white on a dark ground or ink on a light one. Smaller print and stencils use it in capitals, LIMESIGHT.
  • Logo: a reticle, a sight ring with a crosshair and a centre dot, set to the left of the wordmark or on its own where space is short (the end of the darts case).
  • Each product is colour-coded and the code carries across a box: red for buckshot, green for anything less lethal, gold for the Magnum Series, slate and silver for the Precision Series, and a coloured calibre band on the pistol and rifle cans. The flare pistol is moulded orange plastic, with the name in a raised badge.

Voice

Terse and safety-led, and laid out like real ammunition packaging.

  • Product names are short and in capitals: the calibre, then the load, then a spec line of weight, bullet type and velocity in grains and feet per second (240 GR · JACKETED HOLLOW POINT · 1350 FPS).
  • Every box carries the same short warning block, opening "WARNING: Keep out of reach of children." and going on to the right chamber, eye and ear protection, and storage away from open flame. The less-lethal boxes lead with "Less lethal is not non-lethal."
  • The inside of the shotgun, Magnum and Precision box lids prints "SAFETY FIRST" and the four rules of gun safety, then a fifth: "No RDM. Random deathmatching gets you banned." That is the one place the brand winks at the server, and it stays on the inside of the lid.
  • The flare pistol and its cartridges speak the same way in fewer words: "12 GAUGE SIGNAL FLARE LAUNCHER", "WARNING · USE ONLY 12 GA MARINE SIGNALS", "EXTREMELY FLAMMABLE".

Where players see it

Every ammunition item is a LimeSight box: its world model when dropped and its inventory icon, each in its box's worn skin. The item names and descriptions don't mention LimeSight; the brand is only in the print. The flare pistol is shipped as content but no weapon uses it yet.

Every ammo box has a skin for each product it holds, first worn and then new; the items use the worn ones.

In the repo

The brand lives in our own models, not in this repo.

  • Sources, in cityrp2-sources:
    • Ammo boxes: ammo_boxes/. The printed text and design are painted by build_limesight_<set>_texture.py (buckshot, pistol, magnum, rifle, lapua, darts); the wordmark and reticle are Panel.logo and Panel.reticle in build_limesight_buckshot_texture.py, which the others reuse.
    • Flare pistol: flare_gun/. The print is painted by texture_flare_gun.py, with the ammo boxes' helpers.
  • Shipped content, in cityrp2-content:
    • blob/ammo_models/: models/limelight/ammo/ and the limesight_* materials under materials/models/limelight/ammo/.
    • blob/flaregun_models/: models/limelight/weapons/c_flaregun.mdl and flaregun_flare.mdl, its material under materials/models/limelight/weapons/flaregun/, and its sounds under sound/weapons/limelight/flaregun/.
  • The items that use the boxes: gamemodes/cityrp_2_by_limelightgaming/gamemode/core/items/ammunition/ (sh_ammo_pistol.lua, sh_ammo_rifle.lua, sh_ammo_shotgun.lua), and the rubber 9mm in core/plugins/less_lethals/items/sh_ammo_9x19mm_rubber.lua. Each passes its box and skin to SetModel (see items.md). The swap was #2085.

Where it is made

The pistol can's lid reads "LIMESIGHT · MADE IN THE UK · PP": LimeSight is a British maker, and the city's stock is imported. That sits fine with the setting, since American gun stores stock plenty of foreign-made ammunition, and the setting decides where the city is, not where its goods come from.

Most of the print is written for the American market ("DEFENSE", "CENTERFIRE", grains and feet per second), but two pieces are British:

  • The darts case reads "TRANQUILLISER DARTS"; the American spelling is "TRANQUILIZER".
  • The beanbag box warns "Do not fire … under 6 m"; American packaging gives feet (about 20 ft).

These are an accepted gap. Fixing them means repainting and recompiling the models, which isn't worth it for two lines of small print. New LimeSight print is written for the American market.
